About

Tom Maine is a cinematographer based in London and working around the world. He has been shooting since 2002 when he first picked up a camera and began making his own documentaries. He later studied for an MA in Film and Television Production at the University of Bristol in 2008-9, after receiving the John Brabourne Award.

Since then he has worked extensively as Director of Photography in sports, music and the arts - in drama and documentary. Work for the Premier League, Uefa and the FIFA World Cup and Women’s World Cup has been screened globally, while he has also worked alongside some of the biggest names in the world of classical music and the arts.

These diverse experiences have equipped him to deal with the wide range of scenarios that a Director of Photography can face - from creating memorable images in a fast-moving documentary environment to the precision of a film studio and the careful construction of narrative drama. At the heart of his approach is always the story, and finding a way to tell it through images which are both subtle and original.
